suspect email

this morning I opened my inbox to find a message from microsoft telling me that a virus was affecting all windows and offering me a patch to install .Has anyone else received one do you think it would be genuine or is it some sick B------S way of trying to infect my system ?

Anything like this should be deleted immediately. DO NOT install any patch sent in this way.

If you hover your mouse over the link for this "patch", I doubt it refers you to www.microsoft.com and is probably some obscure virus riddled Chinese site.
