Hi, I have a home computer with Windows ME and a laptop with Windows XP. Wireless router - Linksys - and ntl broadband cable modem. Everything working well, I'm really pleased with the set up and have printer, file sharing and home network up and working. However, if I want to use my laptop and the home pc is switched off the laptop fires it into action and remotely turns it on. After a while the pc goes into stand-by but as soon as I touch the laptop mouse or click on anything it fires the pc back up again. This poses no big technical problem - I just find it annoying to keep hearing the pc whirring into action. I don't even know if this is what is actually supposed to happen with a network i.e. I know you need the pc on to share the printer so maybe the whole system needs to be on all the time any bit of it is being used if it's a 'network'.
