Does anyone know any natural/herbal/passed down by grannie remedies/cures for common everyday ailments? I really hate taking tablets and its bad enough that I have to take loads sometimes for a medical condition I have so when I get stuff like cold/cough/tummy upset etc I try my hardest not to take extra medication but this means I just feel crap til whatever it is has gone :(

Im hoping my daughter wont be long before she has another baby so I wil try to remember that one. When my kids were small my grannie swore by mixing cold ashes out of the fire grate with water and using it for nappy rash. I cant remember ever trying it but all my older female relatives said my grannie was right.
Feeding children ash sounds like an excellent way to give them cancer! Here's some that do work.
Garlic - thins your blood so effectively that if you are on blood thinning medication you should avoid garlic at all costs!
Echinacea - Improves your body's immune system so effectively that if you are getting chemotherapy to cure cancer, you should avoid taking echinacea at all costs as it renders the chemo ineffective by failing to differentiate between your own immune system and that of the cancer.
Cloves - numb your gums if you have toothache and are said to improve concentration.
ginko bilboa/ ginseng - improve memory and sharpness.
carrots - help you see in the dark
Parsley - freshens breath after eating garlic (handy if you have thick blood)
Ginger - good for settling stomach

If we're allowed to use poisenous ones then digitalys is supposedly good for your heart but it can kill you fairly easily so is best avoided unless you know what you're doing.
Also peppermint is good for your digestive system
Dandelion, burdock and milk thistle are all good for cleaning out your liver and kidneys.
And eating your crusts makes your hair curly!
