I have just got a parking ticket in a car park that is free for 3 hours, i went on my lunch break and was there for 20 mins. I totally forgot to get the free ticket that shows what time i got there.
To start with the details on the ticket are wrong, granted it has my reg number but says model nissan and make Rover!!! and the colour as voilet, when in fact my car is grey.
I was thinking of sending in a appeal letter as it also says on the ticket my car was first seen at 12:06 then at 12:30, and the car park is free for 3 hours.
I was thinking should i bother sending in a appeal letter or just pay the 30 fine?
more than 20 minutes between 1206 and 1230. But I imagine buildersmate is right, it's only free if you show the ticket, otherwise people would be parking there all day.
it never hurts to try the appeal letter route, especially if the sign about showing a ticket was poorly sited so you wouldn't notice it or something. But yes, you made a mistake, you pay for it; that's life. Only kick yourself if you ever do it again!
If this happens to you again, ask another shopper who is about to leave if you can have their old ticket and submit this with a letter of appeal and claim it had fallen of you dashboard or window.
Slightly dishonest but so is fining one of their own customers for using a free car park!
Can you find anyone who has a ticket for the same date and time? If you can, send it with a letter and say it fell of your window screen and was out of sight. Promise you will be careful in future!!
