I have worked in the NHS for 6 months. I work 25 hours per week and my contract says I must give 4 weeks notice. I have been offered another job and they want me to start asap. I have 5 days leave owing.
a) do I have to work 4 weeks as I have only been employed for 6 mnths
b) can I take the leave off my notice ?
Thank you

Speak to HR - they are normally happy to negotiate notice periods - especially if it coincides with payroll (makes life so much easier for everyone!)
a) Yes, it makes no difference how long you have been there after the first month.
b) Yes - the last 5 days of work with them you take as leave, meaning your last work day is 5 days before your termination date.
But it's worth trying the above advice - you might be able to negotiate less notice worked.
