Wrong name
6 Answers
It seems I've been calling my puppy the wrong name for the last 7 weeks. We asked for him to be registered as Fearnought Handsome George and that's what we've been calling him, well, Handsome George actually. I spoke to the KC yesterday and it seems that we couldn't have our first choice and they've registered him under our second choice. Fearnought George Formby just doesn't have that aristocratic ring to it.

No offence, just thugs and George Formby are rarely an image I link, but then again I only learnt who he was the other week when someone at work made a reference and I thought they were talking about George Foreman. Ooops ;-P
How do you pronouce the first name?

The KC won't change the name unless there was a mistake on the registration form. I believe there was a kennel of Weimaraners called 'Hansom' so suspect that is why they disallowed the name with Handsome in it, as it could be confused with the other kennel name. This is why the breeders have to submit two names for each dog.
I once had a whole litter returned as I wanted to call them all 'Heart' such as Lonely Heart, Lion Heart etc, but 'Heart' turned out to be someone else's kennel name.
It is pronounced Fear 'nort' meaning 'fear nothing' .

No, there wasn't a question.
I haven't had the KC papers yet, I had to ring up to find out what his name was.
As we live 'up north' mr thugulike pronounces it fearrnowt
We chose George Formby because we lived in Formby in Lancashire for many years, not because of George Formby himself. It just seemed to make a connection.
He certainly doesn't seem to fear anything. We were coming out of puppy training last night and a fire engine with flashing blue lights and sirens went right past us and he didn't turn a hair.
You'll be pleased to hear we graduated from puppy class last night without too much trauma. He did bark a bit last night which led to him being squirted with water by the trainer but she gave up as he began to wag his tail as she approached to squirt him.
