On the Atkins diet, I sometimes pick up food which says 4g of carbohydrates (of which 1g sugars), so do i count that as having 4g, or do i class it as 1g (i.e. does ONLY the sugars count) ?, also what is a normal daily intake of carbs on the Atkins, i have been having around 12 to 20g a day and stay on it for a week (then go onto a low fat diet at weekends) and i have lost 22 pounds in about 4 or 5 months, so it must be working ?

Hi its me andy12437 - i know you know who i am - you should just stop worrying about it and come to laus with us next week! So there!

I believe the only carbs that you don't count are fiber carbs.  If the package says it has 4 g of carbs, 1 g of sugar and 1 g of fiber, you would count 3 g of carbs.

Fiber never counts because it is not digested.
