colour mixing

does anyone know what the best way to mix a "hot pink" shade would be from scratch, using acrylics? Can obviously make a basic pale pink by mixing red and white, but if i try to make a more vivid pink i seem to end up with mauve or brown!

As someone who has been through art school, I'd advise you to buy that particular colour instead of trying to obtain it by mixing.
Mixing to obtain the exact colour you want can be fraught with difficulty, as different pigments can act against each other to produce unexpected results. For example, two bright colours can sometimes produce a dull mix.

i used to work for a paint manufacturing company and if we were making a bright pink shade then it would have to be made from a bright pink pigment in the first place.
