Is the new McCains Oven Chips advert a wind up?? Its the one with Valerie Singleton on it predicting the future....

Yes it is... Valerie Singleton is VERY made up to look younger,but you can still tell. The things she says make it very obvious it's a wind up IMO.

Well I dont think it is a wind-up - isnt that just to annoy? Neither is it a spoof - they are selling McCain's Chips and it is paid for by McCain.

It is obviously successful in its purpose - it is getting us to discuss it. Someone above or below was wondering whether advertsiing 'works'. Any copy-writer reading this will be praying, please please someone write "and it made me think, I MUST go out and buy some...."

I thought the young Valerie Singleton was a look alike actress, but the consensus is that she is the 'real thing'?

The color film process is very fifties - the reds are very red, does anyone know which process is?

The full length ad on Coronation Street the other week was three minutes, no other ad and must have cost an absolute fortune.

Mmm makes me think, I must go out and dig up some potatoes and make some home made chips........

To clarify, it is a genuine McCain's advert, but it is not old; it has just been made and released.  I would think it was obvious to any viewer that the series of false predictions was merely intended for comic effect and that the "old style" film processing was fake.
