12 Answers
I'm going away for crimbo and was hoping to lose a few pounds before i go which is in about 3 weeks time.
I'm 24 female, 5'6", and i just found out i weigh 12 stone, I'm not fat I'm a size 12 jean and 14 top, but now finding the size 12 a bit tight.
i have 2 kids. but never the less i'd like to get back to my usual weight before i had my second child which was 10stone.
i understand that i cant possibly lose 2stn in 3 weeks but any tips so i could even lose a few pounds,
Thanks in advance.

If for example you consume 1500 calories a day but have no exercise, your body will use say 1200 ish calories on just general everyday living, therefore 300 ish calories will be stored.
However, if you exercise (a good work out that gets your heart rate up ie out of breath that conversation would be difficult, but not impossible) and you burn off more calories than your daily intake, you will definantly lose more than a few pounds in 3 weeks. If you went to the Gym every day for an hour or so and cut out/down fatty or high protien foods, you could realistically lose between 3 - 4lbs a week.
Larger people lose weight quicker but ultimately, if you want a better chance of keeping weight off, you would want to lose a steady 2 - 3lbs a week.
If you only did 1 hour a week and never increased this, you would hit a platto, and would therefore need to gradually increase the amount of exercise to increase the amount of weight loss. Do remember exercise is addictable, it gives the same feel good factor as chocolate and sex. You will lose weight by having more of the later, and less of the other.
I hope you acheive your goal for your Crimbo trip - but if not, you can still have a bloody good time, and sort it out when your home. Afterall your not overweight and Crimbo is about enjoying and indulging !!!!!

You sound the same as me! :o )
I was 12st 3lbs size 12/14 although only 5ft 5" and I'm now 11st exactly (aim is 10st 2lbs) and its all been through strict diet and plenty of CV Spinning, running, aquafit, gym, Body attack, boxing and body pump classes been going to gym between 4 - 6 times a week! It's been hard but It's paying off. My waist was 34" 4 weeks ago its now 30 1/2 inches hips were 38 and they're now 36 and bust still 38 inches so it's coming together slowly but surely! It just takes dedication commitment and a few weeks of being strict with yourself i.e. i went for lunch yesterday with my mum and sister we ended up at pizza hut buffett! O MY GOD carbs carbs carbs!!! And I had a plate of salad twice!
Just reduce your bad carb in take up fruit and veg fish and chicken in take and work your as* off girlie!

You could easily lose half a stone in 3 weeks and that should definitley make a difference to how your clothes feel.
I have lost just over 2 stone over the last few months. I am 5ft 5 and weighed 10st 8lbs and was a 12/14 (with the odd size 16 top). I now weigh 8st 5lbs and am a size 8/10. (6 inches off my waist, 6.5 off my hips and 3.5 off my thighs)
Initially I cut out all confectionary products completely and started cycling to work and back everyday (even in the rain) I run a few times a week, use a rowing machine at home (refuse to join a gym) & try and walk where ever I can. I do press ups and leg raises nearly every day - you'd be amazed at the difference the press ups have made to my arms. They look so slim & toned I have started buying sleeveless tops again for the first time in years.
I think the main thing is though just to be aware of the food you eat. I used to eat a whole 500ml tub of Ben & Jerry's in one sitting (not every night though!) and when I think of it now that was over 1000 cals in one go and that was on top of my day's food! If you want to eat sweet things eat less of them but more slowly - for example cut a chocolate bar in half and savour every mouthful - you'll still feel like you've had a sweet treat but without the guilt! Also I hunt out the low cal low fat desserts - Iceland stock a Birdseye dessert that is 4 chocolate mousses which are about 83 cals each - less than a Muller light yoghurt and they are totally delicious! Carte d'Or do a low fat icecream which I have with tinned fruit. You get the idea...
For savoury meals I substitute a lot of meat for vegetarian equivalents - a mixed grill with veggie sausages, veggie beef burgers, mushroom, beans etc. I make spag bol or shepherds pie with quorn - significantly lowering the calorie and fat content but I don't think it scarifices the taste.

Crash diets never work. However, what will help you is a couple of measures which will help to trim you up.
1. Cut down on your food servings. Most people can survivie quite happily on half the normal amount of food they eat.
2. Do some regular floor exercises, night and morning to trip your waistline and spare tyre area. Try lying down, placing your hands on your head and trying to raise your upper body. (sit ups). 30 times each morning and evening. Also do some extra walking if you have time. If you don't have time for this, put a small square of carpet on your lounge floor and do walking on the spot while you are watching TV programmes in the evening. It may drive the rest of your family crazy, but it will work off a few calories if you're not able to get to a gym.

Just one last thing dwaty - watch those low 'fat bars' they are very deceving, they are known as having 'hidden' calories ! Low FAT high SUGAR ! ! = high calories.
Although sugar is not fat based proudce, if the calorific value is not sufficiently used (burnt off), they are deposited as 'stored' calories. Otherwise known as FAT.
But good for you you've made a good start. Keep us informed as to the end result.
