Threadworms!
3 Answers
Evening everyone,
Liking the new layout!!
Can anyone help please, my son (4yrs) has threadworms (again!), I gave him the medicine on Saturday (Ovex) but it doesn't seem to have done anything and he is still going mad with it - I can't give a 2nd dose of the medicine for 2 weeks - I'm following all the normal hygine advice (as always) but nothing seems to be helping this time!
Does anyone know of anything that I can give/use to make him more comfortable - he was up til 2am this morning with it and it started again at about 9pm tonight!!
He has had it a couple of times before, only 6wks since the last time, but was a few months before that - and I used to get it up until I was about 15yrs old although no-one else in my family ever did!
I've looked at all the websites etc, but can't find any info on short term solutions to make him comfortable!
Any ideas appreciated
Thanks in advance
A xXx

my son used to be just the same. I would treat the whole family as it oculd be that someone hs it and doesn't realise.
They are awful things and as welcome as a kick in the bum.
If it is not worms it is headlice at that age!
Dont put any creams on his bottom as this just worsens it
i would ring and speak to the doctors in the morning and they should leave something out on perscription. You shouldnt have to pay for treatment for him. Inform his nursery or playschool too if he attends. If not try to think where else he could be getting them from.
I know how you feel we used to have sleepless nights --- after night after night.....

Just as a practical measure, cut his finger nails really short as the eggs can get under there and reinfect him. Other than that just usual hygiene, I would suggest you get him to the doctor, just in case it's not threadworms.
You might try adding a few drops of lavender oil to his bath, I found this very soothing when my son had chickenpox.
Hope he's more comfortable soon
