it may seem a bit odd, but if you try to turn the stopcock the other way ( further open ) before
trying to turn it off you may find this will help.

failing that, if the stopcock is metal rather than the newer plastic types, try applying a little heat to the handle carefully with a blow torch allowing it to cool, re-heat again and allow to cool. repeat several times and when it has finally cooled you may find it will close . do not heat it excessively or you will damage the inside of the stopcock.

I used to live in Penistone Yorks and for a while Scunthorpe and those addresses caused problems for web censors. Should I move to Cockermouth?
Stopcock is a single word, which is why it doesn't get censored, but stop **** does

I was wondering why that word was censored. Now I know why - it's one word, not two!
Thank you everybody. Marymint.
I think we need a collection of silly edits by the Answerbank computer. The question here is a good start. Especially when I see some of the silly stuff that gets through in ChatterBank....
Hey 007 I dont know how this happened but a few weeks ago I managed to get through the net on here the f word not once but twice in one night and it was spelt right and had no spaces or anything like that.
It was spelt just like this *******
Try soaking it in vinegar and leaving over night before attempting to close . Dont forget .clockwise to shut , ie. righty tighty, lefty loosey !
