Does anyone have any idea as to what the average cost of a cremation funeral is nowadays. I'm considering insurance.

Ball park figure would be �1500 to �2000. There's lots of options even with cremation, caskets can go from �100's to �1000's.
Then there's the church to pay for( or maybe have it at the crem itself), minister, and finally funeral director's fee.
Think the Co-op still do payment plans, so you can either pay it all now or pay bit by bit. Or go and chat to one of your local funeral directors.

Yes, it is so expensive now, I do not think I can afford to die. I can only relate to funeral costs some years ago. One in my family was �440 in 1988 and the other one in 1993 was �770. We paid cash for both of them, and gave the funeral director the shock of their life.

Have you ever noticed despite the high cost of living it still remains popular?

My dear mum's cremation was in 2002 and that cost about 2,500. Then my dad had to buy the plot and head stone which was approx 500 on it's own. We also had another very small service when we collected the ashes and the head stone was ready and placed the ashes in the actual ground. We had to pay again for that. Probably about 4,000 in total.
A lot of people might think it morbid you doing that but I think it's a very caring thing to do. Not just from the money aspect either.

Well, you could consider joining the emergency services and then if you die in action I think they have to pay for your funeral themselves. I think you may get a small amount of compensatipon as well.

However, I don't think the emergency service take on pensioners.
