Council Parking Ticket
My wife stopped on a red route (approx 8.30PM) to buy some tables few months ago when she was pregnant and suffering from occasional persistent migraine. The car was picked up by a CCTV monitoring traffic and a fine issued. I immediately wrote to the Croydon council to explain the situation and her condition at the time yet the council doesn't want to accept that. I have found a copy of a letter written by her mid-wife to another council and going to send it off to Croydon council. My question is, is there a way that I can seek an injunction against Croydon council should they start harassing my wife as I think this is so unjust?

Pregnancy is a condition not an illness. If you wife was suffering a migraine and likely to blackout at the time then she shouldnt have been driving. If she was just popping to chemist to collect tablets on the offchance she may need them (I presume this is a prescription) then why didnt she stop and park at the correct place.
I cant see what reason she has to get away with it.
what do you mean by having found a 'letter written by her midwife to another council'? Is that for your wife? or was if for someone else in exactly the same situation?

It's amazing the way some of you think! No one can predict when sudden illness can strike. What about people who are fit but suddenly suffer from heart attack whilst driving? Does that make them unfit to drive in the first place? She stopped to pick up tablets (not tables) if that will set your thinking straight
I agree, red.
I have an under active thyroid and even though I am on medication I have 'off' days when I am so tired I cannot think straight. I am fit to drive on those days, but can't walk very far.
If that is the case I wouldn't drive in case I had to park a mile away! I would ask someone else to get my tablets or wait until I felt better. Appealing against a parking fine is rarely successful.

So am I right in thinking, putting what you've just said into context that is just like saying well I need to park on a red route incase I have a heart attack? or incase i pass out etc. Everyone would be doing it if that was the case, no one knows whats going to happen, if she was having an attack at the time then fair enough she parked this just incase she did...or have i got that wrong?
this post has made me laugh a lot.
As if someone should be driving if they are prone to blackouts! The DVLA have very strict rules on this, and in fact i think she should report to the dvla that she is so risky to drive she might have to stop at any moment to get a headache tablet!
No wonder the council have had no truck with her excuse. As for them harrassing her, what are you anticipating? They'll send a council officer round to shout at her from the street? Just pay it and dont be such a big baby!

i've been thinking about this a bit today.
If your wifes migraines come on so quickly that she absolutely must stop at the nearest shop lest it becomes a full blown migraine, then she should carry the tablets with her. To sstop, go in a shop (which may or not have the pills she needs), take the pills then wait for the 30 minutes it takes for them to start working is ridicuous. if she dosent need them to start working before continuing then why cant she drive another 10 mins to the next tesco express?
