Philip Lawrence
I hear that the low life that murdered Philip Lawrence is to be moved to an open prison to be nearer his mum as he misses her.
At least he gets to see his mum again - personally, I feel this fetid stinking miserable excuse for a human should be left to wallow in his own waste in a windowless cold damp dark cell for the rest of his worthless life.
Is this harsh?

But, really what is extreme? I could say, "What, someome stabs to death a headmaster, and you thnk he should get life i.e. 15 years + remission for good behaviour??? You extremist you!"
Depends on where you're "coming from" as they (used to) say, doesn't it?
I have a lot of time for genuine libetarian liberals who believe that strip away all laws and natural law will bring out the best in people: it's the weasly middle-class white NIMBY lefty-liberal (sorry, a cliche but pretty true in my experience!) who'll happily tolerate muggers, junkies etc. but "What's that? You don't think your Council Tax should support that Transgendered Pride Parade? You Nazi b*****!"
Speaking of middle-class lefty liberals: anyone see Peter Tatchell on Question Time last night? (-:
I was going to post a seperate question about Tatchell, but as you've brought it up, yes I did - and I'm pleased to say it reinforced my opinion that he is a complete and utter tw4t.
And who was that woman MP for New Liars? I had had a few glasses of wine when I watched QT last night, but I have to say, I though she was a bit of a babe (or was I wearing my beer goggles?).
Yeah she was a bit tasty - mind you, New Labour cow - would have had to find some way of stopping her talking if you know what I mean (-:
Ooh, er what would Ben Elton say? Sod all now he's a born-again Royalist probably.
[Do try to stay the right side of offensive, please. Calling anyone a 'cow' is a bit cheap. Thanks. -AB Editor]
Could I ask how this fits with the American situation SimonC. Huge crime rates, full prisons, death penalty being practiced. Despite the harsh punishments, I'd still feel safer in London than Washington!
Crime happens when people are deprived - people still steal bread in countries where the punishment is losing a hand, because they are desperate, it doesn't make it okay to do this or commit any crime but harsh punishments aren't the answer. Maybe we should be thinking about the underlying causes of crime and addressing them, but then again it's a lot easier to believe that half the people in thr world are "born bad".
