Heres a tip to get many plants for the price of one!
By far the easiest type of palm to grow is the 'Parlour Palm' (Chamaedorea elegans) garden centres sell lots of these, usually several in one pot to make it look a fuller kind of plant but in reality only the strongest one will survive over time as the others gradually die off. So what I did was carefully seperate the small plants and re-pot them individually in their own little pots and grow them on, now when I lay back in my bubble bath for a good relaxing soak, I'm surrounded by these plants and I imagine that I'm in a tropical rain forrest but without the fire ants ;-)
Good luck. Tbird+

Aw Tbird that was ace!!! My nanna has some kind of plant that grew off shoots and spread out into 4 different bits so i planted them into their own pot and they have really excelled!!
Gravitate:- there are lots of studies on talking to plants. Prince Charles is a huge fan of this. Apparently the vibration that is given off from our voices stimulates the plants in some way and they love it and it encourages them to grow.

I believe it`s unhealthy to have foliage plants in the bedroom at night as they breath in oxegen and expel carbon dioxide. When I was in hospital the nurses took out plants at night for this reason and returned them next morning. Do you find you wake up tired and lifeless in the a/m with headache? If so........!!!!
I have plants in every room and always wake up fresh as a daisy and on occaision sleep out under the stars on warm summer nights absolutely surrounded by plants and the only affect it has is a good appetite. Good ventillation, I think is the key!
I have a nice small leaved ivy that cascades down from a pot, high up on the wall in the bathroom, it seems to thrive on the rising steam.
