Should Muslims accept benefits?

Muslims don't believe in getting money for nothing. For example, they don't charge interest on loans.
So can they accept benefits because that is getting money for nothing?

And, one of their pillars is Zakah. In which they should give a percentage of their salary to charity. If it is a Muslim charity can the Muslims accept the money as that is also money for nothing?

what is confusing me is that the Muslim girls who work for my company get Christmas Day off because the shop is shut, but they want today off too because of their Festival, but they also want Boxing Day off, I know Boxing Day is not a religious holiday but would they not see it as a normal working day like I have to do? I am confused by that. (there are other religious choices available)

possibly the OP is assuming that the Muslims in reciept of benefit in this country may be newly settled here and have therefore not actually made any NI or tax contributions to the country's coffers.

Interest is indeed forbidden in Islam, but where's the interest in benefits? I think you're mixing 2 seperate issues. Islam does not forbid taking benefits.
