Are we losing plot?
Ok so it's only the Express but apparently it is proposed that yobs can now escape punishment by apologising to their victims. Well that's ok then! You couldn't make it up!

Cant be worse than just throwing them in prison where they get a chip on their shoulder, learn more criminal skills, and just come out and re-offend.
Lets face it, prison it not working is it.

Oh please VHG, are you really crediting the lowlives with human feelings? Are you suggesting that they have an ounce of compassion for their victims? If they don't realise the pain they cause whilst violating another's property how would such realisation dawn on them post event? More trendy lefty thinking VHG, try supporting the victims for a change.
We lost the plot a long time ago and I can't see much hope of ever finding it again. Yobs apologising to their victims? I think we're discounting the mentality of a yob. They simply don't care about anyone else, and if they were made to apologise, they might make the right noises in order to get themselves of the hook at the time, but it wouldn't be genuine, and in all probability they'd be straight out doing the same again. As for prisons, there's a question at the top of Criminal Law on AB asking what the penalty for ABH is, and all the answers to date say that a custodial sentence would not be given. Sort 'em out, Mrs T!!
Too much publicity is given to these anti social incidents .The victims are paramount in this ,their welfare and well being should come first .The victim should be helped to get over the hurt and pain of either physical or and mental anguish .Those that have given the pain and hurt should be made aware of what they have done .If it involves the injured person getting an apology from the people who broke the law then surely it cant be such a bad thing. What I feel should be curtailed is the reporting of these anti social incidents .Who benefits from this being front page news. The peope who commit the crimes .The victm is used in this game. The thug gets publicity so he can gloat and imagine it gives him some sense of importance. The victim is left for years with the pain and hurt after the press have gone away . They dont need to see the papers to know what happened but some other thug will try to outdo the incident because only the more violent incidents are in the press because run of the mill crime does not make headlines. There is nothing wrong with this world but some people have taken it on them selves to make it unbearable for others . A thug is not born So any attempt to win our society back no matter how simple it may sound is worth trying
