Electric window Ford Escort

The electric window (typically on the drivers side!) has stopped working - the light on the button has gone out too. Does anyone know what it needs to work again? and how much it will cost roughly?

if the button doesn't illuminate there is a problem with the feed from the fuse box. either underneath the steering column or in the engine bay. the cover will say what one it is and what ampage it should be.
