I'm not sure about the one that you say that washes off with water, how could it be waterproof if you can do this?
I use l'oreal mascaras (after trying every other brand under the sun) and they stay put on me, even though they aren't waterproof. Highly recommended!

Hey J
I used to have this problem but now use No7 Waterproof mascara, it doesn't run into the creases under my eyes like other mascaras. I use an Estee Lauder remover (No7 do a blue one that is brilliant as well) and it comes off easily.
The one you might have heard of is by Blinc (available at Boots, not sure where else). Supposedly forms tubes around each lash which won't come off until you gently rub them with warm water.

Hi, justasking! As chazza said, I wouldn't buy a waterproof mascara for fear of damaging the delicate skin around your eyes needlessly. I've never been able to get the stuff off properly without hurting my eyes.
I have quite long lower lashes so always used to end up with black smudges under my eyes throughout the day, but I changed my mascara to Rimmel's Volume Flash with the Curved Brush. I love it and it's a brilliant price. I also started to lightly dust a translucent face powder (also Rimmel) under my eyes with a small brush, which seems to have stopped the smudging completely. Give it a try, as it's better than pulling at the skin that is your most delicate. :o)
Lightly powder your lashes before applying your mascara, justasking. This not only gives staying power but also makes lashes look thicker. You can't go far wrong with Estee Lauder or Lancome as the cheaper ones tend to be a bit on the cloggy or jammy side.
To remove use Lancome Bi-Facil. Shake, then gently wipe over your eyes to remove all traces of waterproof mascara. No rubbing necessary! I use this for removing all eye make up as it's specially formulated for sensitive eyes and non oily, so you won't get baggy eyes.
