Is Zyban really dangerous? I was thinking of taking it to stop smoking, but now I'm confused?

According to the Mail on Sunday four of those who died while taking the drug had heart attacks, two committed suicide, four suffered various brain disorders, one had heart disease and one had acute asthma. A total of 3,457 people have reported suspected side effects ranging from fits and chest pains to depression, the newspaper said. All these conditions seem pretty unconnected to each other, surely if the drug was to blame for all these deaths, the cause of death for the majority would have been at least similar. And you also have to take into consideration that some of the people taking the drug could have got their illness due to the ciggies. I should point out that I'm no expert though.
Zyban can cause Hypertension (High Blood Pressure) hence the heart attacks in those perhaps more vulnerable. But there are medical conditions that contraindicate its use. Your GP would know these or know where to find out. I have heard Zyban is more of a stimulant really, help stop the craving for ciggies and works a bit like an antidepressant. It must be relatively safe or never would have got passed the CSM (Uk equivalent of USA Food & Drug Administration).
