If you knew your boss was stealing from your company, would you take it to top management?

If you have proof of this then yes I  would -why should they get away with it . If you have no proof then I would be careful as it could backfire on you- their word against your word and all of that.

Definitely, but as mully points out, make sure you have plenty of proof. You may also want to find out what your bosses relationship is with top management. If they are best friends and say play golf together you may have a hard time getting yourself heard. Also, watch out for the backwash. Rumours spread fast within a company and you could get yourself a reputation with the other bosses as a big mouth. Remember if your boss gets fired you will get a new one. Take care.

YES YES YES YES YES!!!!!!!!!! get proof ifrst though. If he gets caught stealing and they fing out you knew you could be charged to. Get proof and tell someone asap. before you get dragged in further than you already are. good look hun and let us know how u get on. xxx

An anonymous tip off would be your best bet, then if he is friendly with the exec's (or they are in on it) - you dont get landed in the smelly stuff.

Let them take it upon themselves to do the detective work keep your job !.

If you don't report it and it is found out at a later date that you knew then you will be lucky to keep your job.

You need to report it asap to the Human Resources Departrment and you need to take someone with you, if possible from a union.  You don't need to go into great detail.  You just need to tell them your suspicions.  The Human Resources Department will be aware they have to safeguard your interests.

 

I speak from experience.  I have been in this position myself.  Don't discuss this with any other colleagues and act professionally at all times.

Yes, please do. And take a representative from a Union / a person of some standing in the organisation with you as Fakeplastic said. There's a policy in some organisations that you need to have an impartial third party present when discussing cases like these.

How old are u? Be very careful about what u do and how u do it...this may follow u around for the rest of ur working life....and have really bad influence on ur employability....I would review my resume and start looking for other employment as a back up.... and would look after myself before worrying about what the boss was doing.... after all he is ur employer.... how much do u need ur job? Think about number 1 YOU.... So what if the boss is pilfering....keep ur eyes on the JOBS OFFERED section of the paper if ur bosses activity goes against ur principles.... IMHO  Business Ethics is the thinest book in the world these days.....

No its making your job the safest in the building. Although it works different in different situations, im in a small company now and the more the company makes the sooner and greater the rewards are for me, When I left school I worked at a supermarket I know lots of managers there that stole stuff and they new I new. This didn't bother them as when they used to steel fags ect I would buy them of them half price... With a big firm like this supermarket me grassing someone up would not earn my any more money.

I would do the anonymous thing, plus getting involved is well risky - do you like you job? If you know, chances are someone else does - if you get involved you could lose your job and even if you don't but don't tell, someone else might and you could become a suspect. good luck

Yes! Report him / her as soon as possible. Even if you can't prove it, report your suspicions. Without proof, the authorities won't press charges, but they will keep an eye on him / her.
