You may also want to find out what your bosses relationship is with top management. If they are best friends and say play golf together you may have a hard time getting yourself heard. Also, watch out for the backwash. Rumours spread fast within a company and you could get yourself a reputation with the other bosses as a big mouth. Remember if your boss gets fired you will get a new one. Take care.
If you don't report it and it is found out at a later date that you knew then you will be lucky to keep your job.
You need to report it asap to the Human Resources Departrment and you need to take someone with you, if possible from a union. You don't need to go into great detail. You just need to tell them your suspicions. The Human Resources Department will be aware they have to safeguard your interests.
I speak from experience. I have been in this position myself. Don't discuss this with any other colleagues and act professionally at all times.
How old are u? Be very careful about what u do and how u do it...this may follow u around for the rest of ur working life....and have really bad influence on ur employability....I would review my resume and start looking for other employment as a back up.... and would look after myself before worrying about what the boss was doing.... after all he is ur employer.... how much do u need ur job? Think about number 1 YOU.... So what if the boss is pilfering....keep ur eyes on the JOBS OFFERED section of the paper if ur bosses activity goes against ur principles.... IMHO Business Ethics is the thinest book in the world these days.....
What comes around, goes around. His dishonesty will catch up with him one day, you'll see - especially if the Auditor is doing his job properly! Then the traps will be set up, so beware!
