I am going to sign up for broadband this week. I have thought about signing up with Tescos or BT. Are there better providers or are they all prettty much the same. Also some have download limits, what happens if you go over this limit? do you get charged?

(Although I'm with BTYahoo/Openworld - They do now, and I'm about to move). This website has comprehensive reviews and comparisons between the various providers; http://www.adslguide.org.uk/ It may help you. Good luck.
I think there all pretty much the same. I am currently on Wanadoo broadband which is 512 kbps for 17.99 a month, I have a download limit but I have never actually reached it and I send loads of emails and spend lots of time on the net. My brother he is on NTL and his is the same price and does the same thing!! You can pay approx 35 for faster speeds but personally i think for home use thats not necessary.
Also the correct page at Adslguide is this one; http://www.adslguide.org.uk/isps/compare.asp
I recommend blueyonder broadband (however it is a british company if you are not in the UK), look them up. www.blueyonder.co.uk there are no up or download limits!!
im with pipex and im payoing 24.33 a month for an unlimeted 512k connection. You get free hardware and free instalation, no hidden costs. I really reccomend it as it has caused no hasstle whatsoever.
