So much for the much-heralded "we're going to get people off benefits and back to work" initiative. It's no surprise they've kept it quiet - this is precisely the sort of thing that causes resentment and they are clearly aware of that. What a shower!
Did anyone bother to read the article to the end - or just headline hunters?
"A DWP spokesman said: 'There are fewer than 1,000 polygamous marriages in the UK and only a small percentage of these are claiming social security benefit.
"We recently reviewed the rules regarding benefit payments to customers in a polygamous marriage, which conclude that the rules in place since 1987 provide the necessary safeguards to ensure there is no financial advantage for claimants in a valid polygamous marriage."

I am outraged!
Four government departments have reviewed something for a year, and their conclusion is to leave it as it is.
The decision will affect a small percentage of the estimated 1000 bigamous marriages. The decision to change nothing will cost millions of pounds.
Why these muslims cannot adapt our superior system where the single mother has half a dozen children with different partners, I do not know.

"A DWP spokesman claimed that the number of people in polygamous marriages entering Britain had fallen since the 1988 Immigration Act, which "generally prevents a man from bringing a second or subsequent wife with him to this country if another woman is already living as his wife in the UK".
So there shouldn't be situations in which people marry again abroad in order to bring further people into the country. Although I'd be interested to know the ins and outs of the 'generally' statement.

The Daily Mail's slant on it.
What will be the next things Muslims will be allowed to practice in the UK?
Their culture or not, they are now in this country, and should integrate into their adopted culture.
If they are not happy to do this then they are free to go and live in a country that pratices their ways.
