hungry snake
6 Answers
This is the most sickening story I have ever heard. My daughters friend has a snake that she would let sleep with her. This went on for some weeks and she was concerned that the snake was not eating. When she spoked to the vet he asked if the snake was in a coiled position? when she said that it was lying straight he told her that he was sending someone round immediately because the snake was starving itself to eat her! Is this a joke?

If it's a smaller snake, it will know that she would be far too large for it to eat, and if it is a large snake she really shouldn't be sleeping with it anyway as it is a bit dangerous. Only the really big snakes would be able to eat a person so I wouldn't worry.
Also, snakes don't have the capacity to think "I'll not eat for a while then I can have a really big dinner". If something comes along and they haven't just eaten, they'll eat. If they have a big meal, they might not eat again for 6 months.

It has to be a joke. No animal , no species, ever evolved to keep itself hungry. What evolutionary benefit to the species could that be? It would die out waiting for the better meal to turn up, while its less fussy competition was eating while it could and taking whatever it came upon, including the prey that our gourmet animal was waiting to eat !.
