I think extreme right (or left) parties only come to power when things are in a VERY bad way. Germany in the 30s and Russia before the revolution are examples.
Most people in the UK are currently VERY well off compared to people in Germany and Russia at that time.
If we DID have a crash and people started losing their jobs in droves, or rampant infaltion, or people losing their houses (or all three), then the extreme parties may get a voice.
But as it stand we are all too "fat and happy" in this country to get off our backsides and march on the streets.

Yes and no.
I've been saying for a while now that we are in a situation similar to the build up WW2. I don't think it is the fault of Labour, it is the fault of the beligerants (whoever that is determines which side of the fence you're on).
Appeasement seems to be as popular now as it was back then, until it is seen to fail and then nobody will admit to backing it.
