error code 80073712

I have been trying to download update 938371 which is listed as important to allow service pack for vista to successfully install/uninstall but keep getting error code 80073712.Can anyone help?

Have you tried searching the internet for 80073712?

I did, and found loads of sites where people are getting the same problem.

I often find that ANY problem I get with a computer can at least be researched by searching in google with some keywords. In your case you had 80073712 which is a great starting point.

but vista service pack one is still in beta - so the question I'd ask isn't why won't it install
...... it's why do you want to install it at all at this point?

given the number of problems (I can't believe this number are using bitlocker) - presumably part of the move to release will include fixing the fixes required to install the pack.
