In my mind, the most he could be charged with is manslaughter, as far as I can tell reading this, Mr Singh did not intend to kill his attacker, he was defending himself.
I imagine his defence (if it goes to court) will be that he used reasonable force to defend himself and that in the struggle, the knife ended up in his attacker causing death, there was only one stab wound on the deceased but multiple ones on Mr Singh.

I would be amazer if the CPS did anything other than take no action against Mr Singh if the actual facts of the matter are as described in the article.

The disgrace is in the legth of time it takes for the CPS to make a decision. This mans life, already devastated by scum is now on hold while a set of ponce lawyers make a call. Why ? It should be easy to escalate cases like this.

Lambert, your last contradicts itself.

Murder will be the best charge and then use the complete defence of self defence.

Self defence is not a defence for manslaughter (it is in some parts of America I believe)

What this means is you can not downgrade to manslaughter from murder on the basis of seld defence. If this is the case, then there should be a call of no charge at all.

I agree that there will probably be no charge at all.

But the fact remains a person has died, in which the police have to act with full steam.

However, I just hope when the villan staggered away he was wetting his pants crying for his foul mother with the images of all those he has harmed and robbed before playing in his drug addled mind. They when his brain stopped receiving electric pulses, or whatever the definition of being dead is nowadays, the demons came and carried his putrid criminal body away whereby he will live eternally in an acid bath with thye Nokia ring tone playing forever in the background.

There was a famous case a few years ago, a man in Lincolnshire called John Lambert was attacked in his house by a burglar, the burglar died of stab wound(s).
It was succesfully argued in the High Court that Mr Lambert had used reasonable force to defend himself.
That's what I was basing my statement on Minter.

I think it was a coroners court wasn't it? i.e inquest.

And CPS, as stated, did not bring any charge.

My mistake, perhaps the Police wanted Mr Lambert charged with murder due to his assailant receiving several wounds and the Police argued he did not use reasonable force, I can't really remember the ins and outs. I do however hope that the CPS take no action against Mr Singh

I doubt very much they will. But a man has died so the police are coverring their own arses.

I live not very far from Skem if he's charged I'll happily make the trip up there and march in his support, I'd even go to London.
The case bears no resemblance to Tony Martin as he lay in wait for the intruder, Mr. Singh just happened to be in the way.
I honestly don't think he'll be charged and that the passing on of the file is just a procedural matter, there was a similar case in Manchester a few years ago when an almost blind pensioner was attacked at his front door (his wife was in a wheelchair) and he stabbed with a weapon he kept by the door, no charges were laid against him. Rightly so, the deceased man's(?) partner appeared on the News saying it was'nt justice and what's she going to tell his son, the Police moved the old couple out and shortly afterwards the house was burnt down.
