Gas Fire - Corgi?

We just had a new gas fire fitted yesterday from a fireplace shop. After they'd gone i realized they hadn't given us anything saying it had been fitted by a Corgi approved installer. I am going into the shop tomorrow to ask about it but what am i asking for....is there such a thing as a Corgi Certificate or is it just a receipt from the company with the Corgi logo on it? Thanks.

It being a fireplace shop I would have thought its installers would be corgi registered but check all the same.

Thanks, i've done that and they are. The problem is i need proof as when we sell our house we have to send the solicitor a copy of the Corgi installation for the new owners. I'm just wondering if there is an official certificate we're supposed to get or if a receipt is sufficient?

did you have any instructions with it? its normal practice to have a user instruction book with a benchmark book included or in a separate book that details the installation and commissioning information inc. the name and corgi number of the installer .this also has room for recording future servicing records
the benchmark book is in effect a log book that should stay with the appliance

Yes, there's an instruction book but no service book. Hopefully the shop will give me the bits tomorrow.

the benchmark log book system is for boilers only, usually with a fire all you get with the fire is a registration card that the installer and the householder fills in and you send it off to the fire manufacturer.
everytime an installer installs an appliance they have to register it with corgi, either by phone or over the net, corgi will then post you out an installation certificate for your records and will also then bombard you with crap trying to flog you stuff. if you don't get your certificate it means the installer hasn't bothered registering it as it costs them �4.50 to do so.. the whole process could take up to a month however so don't panic yet.

gucciman is correct we have 10 days after installation to register the appliance and it could take a month for you're cert to come through. What concerns me is the fact that you dont even know if the bloke who fit you're fire was even competent to do so. You obviously never asked to see his CORGI ID card which we have to carry and show to everyone who we do work for. You should never let anybody do any gas related work without seeing their card first.

When i fit kitchens with a gas hob or oven my engineer always gives a sighned form/certificate stating that the the appliance has been fitted & tested and that the gas pressure from the meter has been checked to be ok(no leaks)by a corgi regd engineer. Thats a regulation .
