My best friend is Pregnant at 18

I have been friends with a girl named Mary since I was 4 years old. She has been through severe emotional stress in her life. Her father has been abusive, she has cut herself and attempted suicide. In the past month she was in the hospital in the suicide ward. In order to be allowed out of this ward, you need to have a home to return to. Her parents did not let her come back. She had to apply for government help in order to rent an apartment and now she lives on her own. She and her boyfriend have just found out today that she is about a month pregnant. She called a moment ago to ask me what i think she should do. I am against abortion but had a hard time saying that to Mary. I want her to make her own discision but i don't want her to regret it. Because she is on so much medication and drinks insane amounts of cafine the baby might already be disabled or hurt in some way. Please help me give her advice

the best thing you can say as a friend is that youll support her decision and be there for her if she needs you.

Women do have healthy babies when on medication, if she speaks to her doctors asap then they will advise her of the risks as well and discuss whether they can reduce of change her medication if she continues with the pregnancy. They may also be able to offer counselling should she want an abortion.

As redcrx says all you can do is support her in what ever she decides. It could be that having a baby changes her life for the better and she is then able to start to heal the wounds from her past or the right choice for her maybe not to have it, but whatever your views just stick by her and be there for her, like i am sure you are x
