worried...

I just found out that my friend has made herself sick....and she's already tiny. She says it was only once but i don't see what will stop her doing it again. She's lost 2 and a half stone in the last year! Should I tell her mum? I know her mum worries about her a lot. She always makes here eat before we go out. And she just won't listen to any of us!!

The information you have is obviously troubling you and you are in a position to help your friend. She may not thank you at the present time but you will feel so much better about her situation if you know you have attempted to get her help.
Good luck to you and your friend.
Good luck to you and your friend.
I think I would tell her Mum.
Unfortunately, you will probably lose your friend, hopefully temporarily. However, which would you prefer, a temporary glich in a friendship or constant worry and probably a lot of arguments with her? I think I would also tell her that I was going to tell her Mum. It saves endless worries and secrecy about 'who told on me ?' etc.
Her Mum probably already suspects that this is going on, hence the feeding up and the worry.
Just to add to your woes, don't be surprised if her Mum is annoyed with you at first too....when it's bad news, the messenger usually gets the blame.
On the bright side, your friend has almost certainly been doing this for a year or so from what you say of her weight loss.If she's managed to keep it to herself for so long, it may be no accident that you found out. She may have reached the point where she wants someone to help her and/or get her to the help that she needs.
Good Luck and well done you for being such a concerned , good friend.

Anyone who makes themselves sick to lose weight has a tendency towards making themselves really ill. It may have been a one-off after managing to diet in the normal way, but your friend needs someone to boost her confidence, and tell her that she's fine as she is. You could have a word with her mum or someone close, and express your concern, and it'd help to compliment her on how she looks already, if she starts moaning that she's getting fat.
