Had a show?
86 Answers
Hi ladies. I will be 37weeks tomorrow.
I have been feeling funny today, but put it down to the fact that I have a slight cold and haven't slept well the past two nights. I have been working myself up and have had butterflies because I have been feeling a bit run down that if baby comes early then I simply don't have the enery to push it out! LOL
Anyway, I was getting really hot and sweaty (put it down to the cold) but have just gone to the loo and think I have had a show....... cont.....

saw diabetes consultant who said my sugar levels are doing well. He then told me he was a baby doctor so couldnt say about early induction. I asked if anyone could check babys position as i wasnt sure if breech again after the D&V bug
diabetes nurse has sent my urine sample off to lab (thats last 3 and this one that have gone and all come back clear before this)
saw a consultant obstetrician who couldnt tell which way up baby was by feeling (no-one can with this one) and so he did scan. Baby has head on my hip so not engaged.
aksed him about when i may be induced and size of baby and he said i need to see my own consultant at 40+1, she will perform a sweep and then induce at 42 weeks if i havnt gone into labour.
Not one has said anything constructive about the size of baby. I wetn 42+3 last time and that was without diabetes so what if this ones bigger!? argh
mind you, all yesterday eve was in pain which got worse and worse over the space of 3 hours and then just disappeared. Could feel baby headbutting my hip though (and again today) so know its not at all productive, just painful :(

That's good news about your sugar levels and urine results - and at least baby is facing the right direction, even if it's not quite there just yet.
How many weeks are you now? Is baby still bigger than it should be or could it even out? My doc said that she thinks mine will be bigger than average, but nothing to worry about (I guess that's easy for her to say....!). xx

baby will always be bigger than average. At 34 weeks it was estimated 6lbs when average is 5lbs. But then i have big babies anyway i suppose so its not gonna be a lightweight.
average is 7lbs so bigger than average doesnt mean a lot hun. My midwife never told me that little CRX was big for fear of scaring hell out of me. When she saw me in hospital 6 hours after i gave birth i told her he was 9lbs 6 and she said 'i knew he would be big but didnt want to worry you'
if i go early then chances are itll be smaller than that, i just dont want to go to 42+ again lol

I don't blame you, when is your next midwife appt?
It doesn't make sense to me that they would let you go that far when baby is "ready" to be born. My friend (who is having twins) lost some of her waters nearly three weeks ago and despite at least weekly appts at the hosp, they have stopped labour since then once and won't induce her until 26th March; she is 38weeks now, so in theory, babies would be ok if born now. Hosp have said that the boys are a good size, and she has been unable to walk since mid Jan due to SPD.
I get the impression that mine will be a monster, but I don't like to ask directly because then the midwife / doc thinks I am worried about it, which I'm not - I'd just like to know! I could tell when she measured / jiggled me yesterday though, and she made some comment about "Well, you are definitely 38cms, it looks like it will be a fair size".

er slowly lol
little CRX was 56cms long so not very very long. He was very wide across the shoulders which is what i had problems delivering and am worried about this time too.
Nat, i can understand why they want babies in situ as long as possible but 38+ weeks for twins is heavy going for your friend, with or without SPD
