new mattress

i need to get a new mattress and was told that memory foam was the new thing to have , are they any good ? and I have looked at prices from �99 upwards but they all seem the same what should I be looking out for .

They are NOT all the same - the cheap ones are very nasty indeed. You will be incredibly hot and the foam will crush and disentegrate quickly.

The top end range should be better - but you will still be warm, good if that is your preference.

These mattresses should be avoided if you have restless legs syndrome - your legs won't be able to move freely and you will wake up exhausted.

I had back pain for years and always woke up in the morning with aching joints, it never ocurred to me it was because of my matress, until my boyfriend slept in it and could barely straighten up in the morning.

Anyway, I purchased a double size memory foam matress and it was pretty good, although expensive at �500. My aches and pains subsided to a degree. When I moved in with my boyfriend, he insisted we purchase a Tempur memory foam matresses as he'd been used to them for years, so we purchased a Superking size one. It was very costly at �1400 and has 8 inches depth of Tempur memory foam.

Well all I can say, it's the best thing we've bought, it cradles every part of the body, supporting all the body's contours. Since sleeping on the Tempur, I have never suffered any kind of aches and pains and I always get a really good night sleep.

We fetched a new bed and agreed memory foam matress to be the new and thought we'd try it. Our matress cost around 400 and it's the best matress we've had. Very comfy. I could stop in bed all day now....lol

If you can't afford a complete tempur mattress you could always try a mattress topper. See here:

I tried a Tempur mattress and while it was undoubtedly comfortable I was boiling all the time. Apparently this is not uncommon so if you get hot at night and don't want to wake up sweating, then they might not be such a good choice.

I sent mine back and got a Silentnight mattress through Argos - best mattress I've ever had. Very comfortable and much cheaper than memory foam.

I would most definately recommend memory foam. Ive suffered with a bad back for a long time and since having slept one of these i have never looked back. Our mattress was pretty new so i did not want to replace it, so we opted for a topper. After shopping around we finally purchased a brand new one off Ebay for approx �55 with the postage, next day delivery from OnlineSalesDirect tel [phone]. We recommended these to lots of our friends and family who have all bought from them. There are lots to choose from in all different thicknesses.

i have a memory foam mattress and its lovely, much much more comfortable than teh lumpy springy thing i had before.
they take some adjusting to, and you do get a bit warm unless you buy a higher end one with ventilation.
i would never look back to an spring one
