I got tonsilitis every month for a year as a teenager, they eventually removed my tonsils when i was 16. I'm fine now.
If your really worried about it speak to your doc about a tonsilectomy.

Hi babalicious, sorry to hear your sons re-occurring throat infections, there's nothing worse. : (
My daughter was troubled with sore throats all of her young life, they eventually took her tonsils out when she turned 15. I've since heard tho you can push your G.P into referring them to hospital to do tests and check how severe the tonsils are infected and they may suggest getting them taken out....if the infection really isn't that bad they won't touch them.
Sooking on ice poles always helped : )

I was plagued with tonsillitis as a youngster and as a young adult. Every year, wihout fail I was ill 2-3 times, for one week every time. I was 21 when I had the damn evil things removed! The specialist said they were the most ravaged tonsil he had ever seen in his 30 yrs as an ENT specialist!
The thing with tonsils is that they are supposed to filter out infection but can end up causing it!
I'd say if the situation doesn't improve over the next few years then OUT with them!!
