Looking at purchasing a 2003 MG TF but people have warned me against them. Any unbiased opinions.

a piece of british *****
noisey, not very fast not the most reliable either
If you want a sporty convertible car don't go for the MG.
Try and find a Mazda MX5 to suit your budget.
My mate got one brand new and the head gasket went after only 12K luckily it was still under warranty. I had a 75 lovely car but same problem so in my opinion i would agree with Fanriffic have a look at the MX5
build quality is poor and they are extremely unreliable (well s h i t actually)!!
As above, plus whilst most parts are available, we are having a nightmare sourcing some very basic parts when they need repairing.

Stay away - buy anything else.

And let's not forget the depreciation - not the same model, but I saw a 55 plate MG/Rover/Whatever it is this week 75 for 1000 in my area - average mileage, good condition - problem is, no-one with any sense wants them
