buyer wants refund on ebay
I sold a digital slr camera on ebay on 27th feb, i checked everything was working on the camera before posting and everything was absolutely fine.
A few days later the buyer contacted me saying the flash was not working, after assuring him it was working when i sent it he said he was sending the camera off to nikon to see what they said about it.
Nikon contacted the buyer and said the flash was faulty and would cost �150 to repair.
now the buyer has opened a dispute with paypal against me asking for full refund, but i know everything was working when i sent the camera?
If i decide to escalate the dispute with paypal, they will then decide the outcome of this and if i lose the case my debit card will be charged the �300 i sold the camera for and doesnt even say if I will get the camera back, if I do it is now faulty.
What can i do, i must have rights to? please help.

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.If it is faulty (that is not as you described it on your ebay listing), and it seems the buyer has something from Nikon saying it is, then you are going to have to refund the buyer.
Paypal should require the buyer to return it to you first - at the buyer's expense. Hopefully the item you get back is the same one you sent out - and not one the buyer already had before he bought yours.

Did you offer insurance in the listing ..Has the buyer kept the packaging as the Royal Mail may be able to tell if the package was damaged by them in transit.Did you take out extra cover insurance on the item when you bought it .It could be just coincidence the problem developed when the new owner tried to use it . I would have thought the intem would still be insured even if it passd on to a new owner.
