Can anyone recommend a good electronics book, please? I want something that will take me from my current (!) basic knowledge of capacitors etc. to being able to understand how common types of circuit work.

........if its more domestic appliances you are interested in then try this link I learned the majority of my electronics by investigating why stuff went wrong, dismantling machines etc.
