Ibiza is lovely. My husband and I stayed at Santa Eulalia. Sorry that is probably bad spelling of it's name but if you look in the holiday brochure you will work it out. We stayed in a hotel near the harbour which had more Spanish guests there than British. Ibiza is for quiet people as well as disco revellers.
It is a quiet Spanish town and only about 30 minutes into Ibiza Town on the local bus. The bus runs every 30 minutes and is cheap. Ibiza Town is lovely and historic.
The only bad town in Ibiza is San Antonio which is a disco area. Everywhere else in Ibiza is nice. I can well recommend it.

I am middle 60's and I live on Ibiza (Eivissa), actually in Sta Eulalia (sta Eularia) and it is as jenga says, beautiful, lovely restaurants nice quiet places to sit on the marina or sea front. Of course there are holidaymaking families would can be a bit loud, but that's everywhere. If I can help you more, get back to me!
I'd recommend Hotel Ses Estaques, which is a Thompson Gold (no children), It is just round the bay and about a 8-10 minute walk to the centre of Sta Eulalia. Or there's the Hotel Tres Torres which is on same walk but a bit nearer although not as nice, or in town is Hotel La Cala. All suited to people of your age although Tres Torres does allowed children.
