The band is The Sonics from Bremerton, Washington (not far from Tacoma, a little farther away from Seattle). The lead singer is Gary Roslie, and the guitar riff is played by Larry Parypa. Larry's brother Andy also played guitar for the band. The song was first released circa 1964. The two most memorable Sonics cuts were "The Witch" and "Psycho". The Sonics, along with The Fabulous Wailers from Tacoma, are two of the truly great, original rock bands from the U.S. in the early '60s prior to the British Invasion. Some call them the fathers of garage rock and grunge. Check out their new CD releases on Ace Records.
