my partner and i were wondering what the LAW states about parking our caravan outside our property

According to a caravan website I just looked on...

A caravan becomes part of a vehicle when hitched. When not hitched it is a trailer, not a vehicle, and not entitled to be on the road in it's own right.

Any caravan on a road in those circumstances is technically causing an obstruction.
