Council spies on family for three weeks to check they lived in the school's catchment area
An undercover council official spied on a family for three weeks to check that they lived within the school catchment area. The official logged the family's moves without them knowing. The family are of course furious that they had been 'stalked' in this manner. The council won't inform the family as to whether or not those watching her and her family were police checked and whether they were taking pictures. Poole Borough Council acted under an Act which is meant to be used for improving national security. What do you think - a complete and utter waste of money and an invasion of innocent people's privacy?

Pathetic answer to a serious subject.
I presume you went to a school where you only spoke English and lots of other pupils spoke a foreign language. -oitherwise you would be being just a little bit hypocritical.
Don't understand this, it is not even English
With regards to watching programs - to be honest I wouldn't watch a program b y Nick Griffin denying the holocaust - doe this mean that I have a blinkered view?
Yes it does, firstly are you suggesting that Rageh is a member of the BNP? And secondly by only watching programmes that only deal with matters that fit your own personal agenda, regardless of how alien they are to you, does indeed prove you have a blinked view on matters.
I see it as something that has brought a lot of good things and some bad things.
That's indeed enlightening, we all know your views on the good things now it would be interesting if you would list the bad things. That is of course if you would not hate typing them.
I have a pretty balanced viewpoint - you are the one who turned a discussion on a council spying on parents of children into an anti immigration rant.
Balanced viewpoint???? That is laugh, youv'e got to be joking?
I agree I might have turned the discussion to matters of immigration (I will not be the first, or the last to diversify from a subject),
Far from a rant. I have only replied to the "Gromit Clan", who seem very interested in the subject, hence their numerous posts.

It didn't take a lot of searching AOG. I just googled the words you posted and inly the Daily Mail page was found. It took about 6 seconds.
Every word that is printed in the Daily Mail is scrutinised by its Editor. Anything he/she disagrees with is struck out.
Why are you so evasive about your source. One post you say you didn't rely on it and tried to attribute it to Channel 4, when found out you change your tune and admit it was from the Mail.
You obviously have no idea how journalism works.
Oneeyedvic posted a link to prove my point and shot you down in flames
No he didn't. I posted about the Primrose school you gave as an example and demolished your argument that it was majority not english speaking or that it was a bad school. Oneeyedvic's link to another school, which teaches languages to illustrate that teaching many lanuages is a good thing.. How this shoot me down in flames I fail to see.
I am enjoying the series, but I would not get too enthusiastic yet if I was you. We have only seen two of the three programmes. You cannot trust these pinko BBC/Channel 4 types and the conclusion he will come to in the last programme will be interesting. I hope you will still watching.

Warnng to ABers.
This is a very tedious debate on another thread, for which I am partly responsible. Don't waste your time, I wish I hadn't.
Still with it I see Gromit, you can always opt out.

What about the number of other links you made?

You know this for certain do you? Obviously he or she has to scrutinise every thing that is written, both for size, legal implications etc, etc. This is why they are called Editors, or didn't you know that?
Do you think that Rageh would have allowed his piece of journalism to be altered out of context to somehow fit in with the papers political leanings? Obviously you have no idea of a serious journalist's pride in their work.
Please don't accuse me of changing my tune when found out about my source, your U-Turn after being challenged about using the Mail, was a gem.
Oneeyedvic's link to another school, which teaches languages to illustrate that teaching many lanuages is a good thing..
Yes I agree but not at the cost of first having to teach these foreign students English, thus losing precious teaching time which could be better used teaching other valuable subjects to our own students.
Just one more reason why some kids are leaving school without a basic standard of education.
Down in flames yet again, hope you have a parachute?

"your U-Turn after being challenged about using the Mail, was a gem."
I ignored this the first time you said it, because it was such a bizarre accusation, but here goes:
I HOPE THE FOLLOWING IS USEFUL TO YOU FOR REMEMBERING ( AND COMPREHENDING) THE RECENT PAST
GROMIT: (First post in this thread)
"Maybe someone can give the AB team a tutorial on how to post a link, or failing that a direct link to the Daily Mail website for every question they ask. Here is the link."
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/live/articles/news/news.html?in_article_id=558632&in_page_i d=1770
There is no attempt to hide that this link is from the Mail.
GROMIT: (Fri 16:44):
The version of the story in the Telegraph is more informative.
AOG
"I am glad that you have led the team to one of the best links."
GROMIT:
"The link I kindly supplied (Daily Mail one) was not the best one. It conveniently left out ... information..."
AOG:
"You hypocritically used the Daily Mail facillties for your link and then when found out, you made a hasty U-turn and stated "it was not the best one".
When found out? It is in the link (above). There was no attempt to hide where it came from, the opposite in fact.

You did not give a source to your quotes.
GROMIT:
"I suggest you read the full survey instead of relying on the Daily Mail's spin of it. "
AOG:
"...I did not rely on the Daily Mail's spin on it as you once again wrongly stated. This was reported and wrote by, Rageh Omaar himself a Soami immigrant to this country. "

"A survey by YouGov for Dispatches now suggests that Enoch Powell was right. Eighty-three per cent of Britons polled said they feel that there is an immigration crisis, and 84 per cent believe that the Government should stop or reduce immigration altogether.
You did not say where this was from, but a quick google revealed it was from an article in the Daily Mail

Well, well, well just another long winded reply from Gromit.
This was not at all constructive to the debate in hand. All you have done is to reproduce all that you and I have posted in the past.
Taking this into account and not wishing to make your verbal indigestion any worse, I think it would be best for us to draw a line under this subject, until we cross swords once again.
