Isn't it funny how some characters start off as baddies, then gradually they are given storylines which make us warm to them. Thinking particularly of Becky in Corrie, think she has some really good lines and her body language is very convincing.
I think this can happen in real life as well. You'll get new neighbours, or someone moves into your road, and you might not care for them very much at first, but as time goes on, and everyone gets to know each other better, your opinion can change.
Stacey Slater/Branning used to be a right little cow when she first joined EE especially when she faked a mugging when taking the takings to the bank for Yolande, now she is nicer and more grown up
It happens too often in soaps. When the dingles first came in Emmerdale, they were the scum of the earth, no respect for anything. Minty in stenders was also a hard man. Look at them all now - jojes and comedy figures.
I think the prime candidate for this is Billy Mitchell, he came into the programme as the uncle that used to beat Jamie senseless - Phil rescuing Jamie from him - now look at him, All married with Kids etc
Can you say the same of Answerbank. Will the 'baddies' eventually reform. I think not.
I think Becky is an amazing character now and, as I hoped, a relationship with Jason is on the cards. Much better for him than the awfully wooden and boring Sarah.
As I recall, Minty from Eastenders was originally a cold hearted slum landlord who threw Janine Butcher out onto the streets. Now he's everybody's cuddly soppy dope!
