Can someone please tell me if a young child's witness statement would stand up in court? Thanks

It depends on the age of the child and whether it could be established that the child knows the difference between truth and lies I would think.
I would suggest making the child look as mature as possible. A spot of make-up perhaps?
Are you talking about a statement made by the child and, having been agrred by both sides, being read out in court (what is known as a "Section 9" statement)?

Or are you talking about the child, having made a statement, then being asked to give "live" evidence and be cross-examined?

And how old is the child?
