hotel move

has anybody got compensation for not being accomodated at their hotel that they chose and also not staying in resort area that they chose. example stayed 5km away from chosen hotel and resort.

I did once, from Thomsons (though it was a long time ago). I'd booked seven months in advance and was told with less than 24 hours to go that the hotel was overbooked so I'd have to go to another one. I had a pretty good case. Yours will depend on various things like the amount of notice, what the booking terms were etc. But it's certainly worth a try. Change of resort is a pretty major change.
