I finished university in June 2007 with a BA Honors Degree in Major Criminology and Minor Psychology and achieved a 2:1. Since this time I have been trying to find employment working with ex-offenders, victims of crime or alternatively going into the investigative side of crime. A few jobs have come up and I have applied for them, although I have not been successful to be shortlisted for interviews. I have come to the conclusion that I need to gain some work experience in the field to be taken seriously by employers in the probation service or police force. If anyone knows where I should seek some work experience or which root I should take next to find employment, or alternatively any other companies that would be interested in taking on a graduate it would be much appreciated. I live in St Albans so places around Hertfordshire would be best. I am desperate to get into this area and start my career helping others - so any help or advice would be great!!! Kind Regards Karla Harris
Look on www.do-it.org.uk, where you can search to find volunteering opportunities in your area. Also contact your local volunteer centre to see what they have available. For example volunteering with HACRO (HERTS ASSOCIATION FOR THE CARE & RESETTLEMENT OF OFFENDERS).
I think you can find the contact details for yours here www.cvsstalbans.org.uk.
