Why do toaster settings go up to ten when four usually burns bread to charcoal? Is it a kind of Spinal Tap thing (this one goes up to eleven!). I recently bought a toaster and the only way to toast croissants is to put them on reheat three times!!

I know what you mean. Also why is it if I only put 2 slices in my 4 slot toaster and I forget to turn the setting down, do they burn ? Its still on the same setting as 4 so why does it do quicker ?
...and why do they jump from 'hardly warms the bread' to 'smoke detector hell'

We landed a man on the moon 40 years ago, so why can't we make toast?
Most toasters go up to 10, but when you get to 10 you say to yourself, where can I go from here? Nowhere. That's why some toasters go up to 11, for that extra power when you need it.
