Hi
My Father's PC will not boot up. It starts and gets to the windows screen and then restarts itself, gets to the windows screen etc and goes around in a loop again.

I would appreciate any suggestions - I am not very technical but am willing to have a go if anyone can help.

Thanks

Has he got a boot up disk for it?
It could be a virus, or corrupt system files or indication of potential hard disk failure or a hundred other things.

You could try to start it up in Safe Mode by pressing the F8 key when the PC is starting up and selecting Safe Mode from the list.

If this works (or doesn't) post a follow up.
Like mattie said, see if it boots into Safe Mode. If it still resets, it could be a memory problem.

I fixed someone's PC recently where his kids (he blamed the kids - it could have been him!) had jammed a USB device in too hard, snapped the plastic that mounts the connections so they touched the outer part of the USB socket and it kept causing it to reset...

As with all PC problems, try one thing at a time...
