internet download limits

i'm looking to change my internet provider and have found a good deal with AOL,

there is a monthly download limit of 40Gb per month,

can anyone tell me how much this is in terms of usage

Thats a huge amount, are you sure it was 40 and not 4

if it is 40 you have pretty much nothing to worry about, I would be very surprised if you went over it.

in fact depending on your broadband speed it may not even be possible to go over it

They have it as part of their fair usage policy.

40gb should not be a problem for pretty much everyone, and if you do get even close to this level of downloads then you will very quickly need to be investing in either another hard drive or lots of blank CD's or DVD's as 2 or 3 months of use at that level would fill most peoples hard drives right up

From AOL's site regarding fair usage they say

An excessive online behaviour, not representative of a normal residential use, could be for example downloading over 12,000 music tracks, or 30,000 high-quality digital photos, or around 60 movies per month. This is a very large amount by any normal standard of usage.

I've never really got on with AOL and tend to steer clear of it. For the last 6 months I've been using
PlusNet Broadband (�19.99/month for up to 8Mb speeds / 30Gb usage allowance) with no problems, 24-hour help and all round good service!
