holiday in cairo
Hi
I am going to Cairo soon on holiday (staying in Zamalek) and will be visiting areas such as Giza and also Hermopolis.
As this is not a typical resort (i.e. sharm el sheik) I understand that I will have to be careful what I wear.
I believe that a woman should not show her shoulders, legs etc.
However, I would like to try to get a bit of a tan while I am there. Does anybody know if it is acceptable to wear slightly less (i.e. shorts an T shirt) within reason in certain areas?
I don't wish to return with only brown hands and face and white everywhere else!!!
Thank you :-)

A T shirt should be fine, but try not to have the shorts too short and the clothes shouldn't in general be too form-fitting. Looser clothes will be cooler anyway, And take sun cream for those parts that do show, as the sun is fierce. If your hotel has a pool there should be no problem sunbathing by it in a bikini (but toplessness probably won't be allowed).
