belly button piercing
I was thinking of having my belly button peirced for my 21st birthday but i'm afraid of the pain! Has anyone else had it done? How much did it hurt? Is it like ear piercing? In the past, my ears got infected when I had them pierced, does this mean my belly is more likely to get infected too?
Appreciate your help guys!

No blood supply means no delivery of antibodies, neutrophils, lymphocytes etc etc to the point of infection thus the body's immune system could not fight the invading pathogens well.
Your belly have more blood supply thus if compared to the piercing of the ears, the belly would stand a lower chance of getting an infection. But that also depends on the skill of the one piercing and the tools used to do so. Just make sure they're all sterile equipment.
However I haven't done any sorta piercing before so I wouldn't know how pain it would be. :p sorry couldn't help you with that.
I got my bellybutton pierced a long time ago and it took absolutely ages to heal! Piercers usually say it will take about 3 months but mine took a year as it kept getting infected. Because of where it is, there are trouser/tights lying over it which can irritate the piercing and also mean that it can be prone to infection, even if you are cleaning it twice a day.
In saying that, I love mine and couldn't imagine not having it, but just wanted to warn you that it is the piercing that is most likely to get infected and can takes absolutely ages to heal! (getting it done isn't sore at all though, just don't look while they're doing it if you're squeamish)
hiya guys.. i just got my belly button pierced yesterday. im 13. and my mom finally let me get it done. it didn't hurt. they dont freeze it. and i have no problems getting it cleaned. as long as you will use sea salts and neutrogena soap.. you will be fine. the pain.. i never noticed it went through. all i felt was the clamp to hold the skin together. so.. have fun. |

I had mine done when I was 13, and I didn't feel a thing, apart from the clamp, because I was so skinny at the time, the guy couldn't get it on to my skin securely, but seriously I didn't feel the needle or the bar going into my skin. I'd go for it, the end result is always satisfying. (sp?)
P.S. When I had my ears pierced the first time, they went infected, but I"ve never had a problem with my belly button.
Hope that helps.
